We posted the following tweet about a week ago and got a really great response.

DAO 文档与知识管理现状

Data and information management tools are a major headache for DAOs. There is currently no native web3 solution, so you can only use web2 tools: Thinking, Google Docs and Roam.

In this article, we first discussed which collaboration tools would be best for DAO, then evaluated the existing tools in the market to see if they were set up and how to manage them, including their technology equipment. Finally, here are the best tools you can get from CabinDAO, a tool from Frankenstein's documentation and a suite of the best features for DAOs in most Web2 tools.

We discussed collaboration and teamwork with some people in the web3 ecosystem developing DAOs and processes based on what we gained from CabinDAO's data collection and management functions.

Finally, there is no difference between writing and collaboration tools (like Google Docs) and knowledge management tools (like Notes). For DAOs, inaccurate documentation, documentation, and dissemination are all part of team communication, and what we need is a tool to implement the entire process, from the whole beginning of the discussion, suggestions until the final recommended version.

So let's talk frankly.

Key Features of DAO Knowledge Management Tool

Management of multiple access rights

Multidisciplinary support is one of the toughest tasks DAOs face with their knowledge management tools, especially cost-based and approval-based staffing.

Indeed, companies always have a very clear boundary between employees and non-employees. Therefore, the software industry was initially developed with this model in mind and the cost based on the number of employees in the industry.

On the other hand, the involvement of the DAO has some drawbacks. At all times, the DAO is a vital circle of a handful of sponsors and key stakeholders, community members, dissenters and the general public.

It is therefore always a question of access to rights. An existing business will have 300 or more employees, with the IT company responsible for authorizing, removing, and managing access for all users.

Enterprise apps effectively manage multiple people's access, such as Google Docs, which manages permissions for individual files, and Notes, which makes many pages public or private. However, it is not beneficial for DAO to charge high software fees because membership only gives all members (especially non-participants) permission to view, leave ideas and spread informations.

The Wikipedia model is the best solution for DAO input problems. Wikipedia has a power split of participants and editors, and as an open source project, it does not distinguish between employees and non-employees, and has many procedures in place to ensure similar data.

Distributed project management

Business management knowledge for business always has the highest standards. Plans and activities are assigned to groups and members by senior management.

On the other hand, the DAOs are more a network of interventions for self-employed workers than for companies. Its model is bottom-up, where participants write job descriptions and present activities for community approval.

For example, Github encourages open collaboration and includes monitoring procedures to ensure the quality of shared data. This allows developers to submit code for features they want to add and provide on their own. Easy to set up, Github supports and supports project management.

Once the right people are able to submit the recommendations, the best management software should follow the proper management or approval procedures and be able to decide on the recommendations based on the specific application requirements and resources. .

Web3 Academy

Most DAOs, including CabinDAO, are still involved in Web2 applications for collaboration and data sharing, but this approach is not a long-term solution.

The web3 app still allows DAOs to manage file permissions for groups instead of members. Constantly changing sites and removing new users and removing users you left behind to change their permissions, Web3 provides permissions in bulk. This means that DAOs can manage access more easily by making membership decisions based on whether they have tokens or NFTs.

Spencer Graham of DAOHaus (Twitter @spengrah) describes the best script.

"If I log in to 3 major websites with my wallet address, the device lets me see my DAO status, tell me where I am logged in, and hide my No status. It works the same way you decide to modify or grant access.”

The best web3 feature is the ability to tie a project to revenue or include project costs and pay fees based on each member's level of service.

Knowledge management tools are now used by DAOs

Knowledge management is a big headache for CabinDAO. We currently use Roam, Google Docs, Thinking and Discord at the same time. Because no one can meet our needs.

concept

We use the report to express our vision and long-term vision for DAOs, as we love WYSIWYG (vs Markdown) reports and are able to manage permissions for multiple partners and pages.

Ideas solves more than half of your data and experience management problems, but as a business tool, Ideas costs users $8-20 per month. Paying to access CabinDAO's 300+ Discord members will be free with no other solution.

roaming

We use Roam Research for project management and internal knowledge management.

Roam's multi-user architecture suits us. First, anyone can contribute to the Roam Server without having to worry about content created by others being deleted. As a result, it's easier to access than Google Docs or Notes, and its integrated design is appropriate for project management below.

To learn more about using Roam for DAO, watch this video from @realfakepicnic on using Roam in code423n4.

DAO 文档与知识管理现状

However, in our experience, Roam's chip-based login is not suitable for long writing, so those unfamiliar with blockchain or Markdown may struggle.

Others use a similar script called Obsidian which, unlike Roam, does not support more user functionality.

Google Docs

I use Google Docs to write. The value of vision and the multi-stakeholder function are very strong. However, the file has no working link. Years later, the writing still looks a lot like the old Microsoft Word.

(Of course, I know it doesn't need fixing if it doesn't crack, but this is a web3 moment like never before.)

nuclear doctor

We've never used HackMD, but it's a tool that's been repeatedly recommended on Twitter, so we surveyed several websites that use it.

Both Jet Protocol and DAOHaus use HackMD as their betting team. Both organizations use it for collaborations and short texts.

For external collaborations, Aircraft uses Chat and DAOHaus uses Docusaurus to deliver more legitimate information to the public.

The best part of Hackmd is its integration with Github. This allows data to be modified through the merge request process before being pushed.

disengage

Clarity is the only app on this list that focuses on DAOs.

Our team was just getting started trying Clarity, so we learned a lot about Clarity through external guidance.

Although not a DAO, Foster, a community of writers that operates as a DAO, ditched Code and turned to Clarity for knowledge and project management. Especially since I realized that the demand was increasing while the legal process was taking too long.

The Foster team loves the operation and experience of Clarity, says designer Stew Fortier.

Clarity's early experiences revealed that connecting the two parties could be difficult. Although the current cost model still depends on the number of users and data stored in the existing Web2 architecture, Clarity said it plans to revamp the model to work better for DAO.

As the founder of Richie Bonilla, Clarity wants to solve the problem of human integration upstream and actively works with users to find the best way to distribute their applications.

Data and Knowledge Management Team for DAOs: Who's the Winner?

DAO needs a way to create, edit, and share knowledge natively for Web3. Currently, the most common tools are Web2 tools. They are not designed bottom-up, many people need DAO integration.

At CabinDAO, we dream of knowledge management tools that combine the web3 functionalities closest to the best web2 collaboration tools on the market. We hope to have...

Consider WYSIWYG interface

Wikipedia Community Transparency Protocol

Two links in Roam

Reddit Attribution Model

Github changes management

Web3 native token threshold, identity and payment tools

So what is the experience of data and management in a Web3 organization? We look forward to hearing from you.

DAOs allow research institutes and media outlets to dismantle regional areas to create and fund community content. In order to reach a just decision, DAOrayaki will create a public domain accessible to the people through the people's needs, the administration of democracy, and a form of DAO that everyone can use. We welcome DAO, Interstellar Immigration, Quantum Computing and other research submissions and sharing 10,000 USDC bounty pools from below! Learn about Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), discuss the latest governance topics, and follow developments in DAOs. Welcome to the DAOrayaki community!
