World's Largest Cut Diamond Accepted Bitcoin Payments: Weighs 555.55 Carats and May Exceed Exchange Rate of 43.34 Million
The world's largest cut diamond enigma will be auctioned online at Sotheby's (0, 0.00, 0.00%) on February 3, with an estimated value of at least £5 million (about 43.34 million yuan).
The Enigma Black Diamond weighs 55 ounces and weighs 555.55 carats. In 2006, it entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest cut diamond in the world.
According to Coindesk, Sotheby's accepts payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum and the stablecoin USDC in addition to the traditional advantages of this competition.
This is the second time Sotheby's has received payment in cryptocurrency at a diamond auction. In July, the retailer sold the diamond for $12.3 million to an undisclosed buyer who purchased 101.38 carat diamonds in cryptocurrency.
Yu Wenhao, vice president of Sotheby's Jewelery Asia, said in July last year that accepting cryptocurrency payments was a way for Sotheby's to attract young shoppers.
