Intel Unveils New Energy-Efficient Bitcoin Mining ASIC Next ISSCC
Intel, one of the world's largest computer processor companies, announced the launch of a new "extra low voltage power saver called Bonanza Mine" at the IEEE International Semiconductor Circuits Conference ( ISSCC) in February 2022. Bitcoin Mining Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC)”.
Intel filed a patent in November 2018 describing a concept similar to "bitcoin mining performance". It is assumed that the procedures described in the patent can be applied to commercial products marketed by the ISSCC.
According to the certificate, the ASIC behind Bonanza Mine performs counting as efficiently as other ASICs, while eliminating the need for recounts or recalls. The system expects to reduce total electricity consumption by approximately 15%.
The process used to mine cryptocurrencies was limited by the scarcity of stocks and declining sales. Intel will be a contender like Bitmain, for whom it claims the Ethereum ASIC is pending release, while Nvidia has been hit hard with plenty of eye drops. Despite constant CPU shortages and low production costs, the demand for cryptocurrency mining continues to grow.
An Intel representative is confident about the new chip and entry into the cryptocurrency mining industry, saying:
"Intel has been developing operations on SHA 256-optimized ASICs for many years, beginning with a comprehensive job search at Intel Labs."
At the time of this article's publication, it was unclear whether Intel would release Bonanza Mine for retail or strictly for commercial or research purposes. However, this could make Intel a major competitor in the crypto mining industry.
