Mozilla announces abandonment of free cryptocurrency
January 10 News (Liu Wenxuan) The Mozilla Foundation, which develops the Firefox browser, recently warned users of its official Twitter platform that they may be free from cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, but the report also likes project developer Jamie Zawinski. Critics and outcry from the community ultimately led the Mozilla Foundation to announce the delay in accepting crypto donations.
Mozilla said that more in-depth measurement of the environmental impact of cryptocurrencies and whether or not free cryptocurrency is accepted as an environmental goal is needed.
Zawinski views cryptocurrency as poison for the apocalyptic ecological damage, pyramid schemes, and open networks that Mozilla once promoted.
Mozilla has been accepting free cryptocurrency since 2014. Because mining cryptocurrency requires more energy, Greenpeace, the world's leading environmental organization, has ditched cryptocurrency.
