Insufficient power to restrict cryptocurrency mining, Kosovo police seize hundreds of mining machines
Kosovo police seized hundreds of miners to curb cryptocurrency mining operations during a time of unrest, according to news.bitcoin.
According to a statement from the Kosovo police, police seized 272 cryptocurrency trading devices in the town of Reposavich, AFP reported.
Interior Ministry data also shows that a total of 342 new mining machines have been seized since the search and seizure of miners began earlier this week. Before that, the government in Pristina had abandoned all mining operations and started illegal activities due to a lack of energy during the cold winter.
The Republic of Kosovo has banned cryptocurrency mining as a way to solve the energy problem. According to the report, the government declared a state of emergency for 60 days in December. This is similar to Iran's ban on using the cryptocurrency from December 28 to March 6.
Insufficient growth in the region and rising import prices have led to an energy crisis now, focusing on this issue. The ban on cryptocurrency mining is an emergency measure proposed by Economy Minister Artene Rizvanoli and other measures proposed by the Election Commission. However, critics have questioned its legitimacy as the current law does not restrict the publication of digital benefits. The cryptocurrency bill, submitted to Congress in October, has yet to be passed.
It should be noted that the government-to-government relations between Kosovo and the Serbian states are very strict in government repression of mining sites. The central government of Kosovo is led by Albanians and Serbs in four towns in northern part of the Republic of Eastern Europe. .
