"Metaverse" has been around for years. What time is this?
So what is the meta world?
Although it has recently gained prominence, the term Metaverse was coined 30 years ago in 1992 by research historian Neil Stephenson. His new “Avalanche” describes the meta-world as a virtual 3D world, where people transform into avatars, interact / interact with each other, and create AI-designed characters.
Thirty years later, this definition has several meanings depending on the context. In short, the metaverse is a virtual world where people can chat, work, shop, and have fun. I divide it into three ways: virtual reality, augmented reality, and virtual world.
Segmentation of the metaverse: virtual reality, augmented reality and the virtual world
Virtual reality (VR)
An immersive world where you can touch, feel and move around the digital world using headphones and haptic technology.life:The physical body and the expression of the digital world.
Facebook rebranded itself as "Meta" in October 2021 to create its own version of Metaverse and spent $ 10 billion to make it happen. The main gameplay of Horizon World VR is a user-friendly game creation facility accessed using Meta's Oculus headset, extended to an invite-only beta in December 2021. On Christmas Day, Oculus is the app free # 1 on the Apple app. Store, proving the excitement of having a virtual world through virtual reality.
Augmented reality (AR)
An interactive conversation that takes place in a physical world, where the design of IT equipment and the environment overlap.also called: Digital representation in the physical world.
Developed by Niantic in early 2016, Pokemon GO has taken the world by storm, reaching 232 million users, with critical experiences occurring in real life. Players can travel the real / physical world and capture Pokémon features that can appear anytime, anywhere in the mobile app.
Snapchat has always been known for its filters and AR-first approach. Their enhanced AR glasses, Spectacles, are a major failure in 2017. Only 0.08% of users buy it. However, their Lens Studio (AR department) has 200,000 developers, producing 2 million lenses for over 200 million DAU. Users use the Snapchat app goals on a daily basis to improve the world around them.
virtual reality
It's the most complete meta-world, and the game has always been associated with avatars, skins, business and social platforms that can be thought of as meta-worlds themselves. In other words, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said, “If you treat 'Halo' like a game, it's a meta-world. Minecraft is a meta-world. In addition to the Fortnite meta-universe, there are games and worlds built on blockchains (eg Axie Infinity, Sandbox). Games and the world can help create new ecosystems and worlds and build bridges between digital and globalization. body. AKA is the digital world where digital presentation is possible.
Roblox has become the meta-world of non-crypto currency consumers every day. It is said that half of American children play Roblox. Roblox allows users to play millions of 3D games online, customize their avatars with skins, spend money and earn Robux. Roblox still has the highest number of monthly users (202 million in April 2021) and a strong daily engagement of the new Time Metaverse platform (nearly 50 million DAU until December 2021). As Roblox is a closed system, Roblox avatars and skins cannot be placed outside the game. It is UGC's successful platform. As of October 2021, Roblox had 1.3 million developers benefiting from Robux (in-game currency), and the developers want to make $ 500 million from the games this year. Roblox has a market cap of $ 61 billion and is one of the most profitable companies in the Metaverse.
Sandbox is a blockchain-based (Ethereum-based) virtual world that allows players to create, innovate, and leverage their gaming experience. The game has a consistent number of NFT-based real estate, both of which are third parties are sold, in which companies, celebrities and individuals compete for their rights. As of November 2021, Sandbox's real estate market value had exceeded $ 144 million and there were over 12,000 virtual landowners (including 165 cash and over 500,000 registered wallets). The company raised $ 93 million from SoftBank's Vision Fund and declared its mission "from games to fashion, architecture, virtual concerts and theatrical performances, art, museums and more to industry ". Sandbox uses a 'make money by playing' model to encourage players to spend time in the metaverse, and develops an open metaverse to achieve better integration with developers and brands.
Axie Infinity explored the vision of bringing crypto technology into context through gaming. Axie Infinity is an Ethereum-based blockchain game (Ronin sidechain to cut costs and slow down trading), where players can buy NFTs on cute animals called Axies and enjoy the fights. Players can use Axies to trade real money on commercial games (some selling for over $ 600,000) and turn them into additional NFTs. A minimum of 3 Axies is required to participate in the “play and win” model, a pre-investment is required to play and the starting price is $ 70. These will hit Axie's business during the month of December 2021. It is the most successful blockchain in terms of number of games to appear on Axie Infinity, and is the largest of its kind, an NFT project as of December 27 , with a market volume of $ 341 million. put into service in the last 30 days).
How is this time different? Or, in other words, why now?
A "Metaverse" Starter Ball for Gen Z, especially those born in the late 90s / early 2000s
As a 24-year-old Gen Z adult, he grew up playing Club Penguins with Webkins in grade school. Webkinz is the ultimate representative of the physical connection and the digital world. On your birthday, you will receive a Webkinz plush with digital numbers that will allow you to use the digital toy to enter the "webkinz world". This is where every child connects, regardless of the transition. Earn more KinzCash playing games, upgrade your bedroom with Webkinz, and more. Ditto for Club Penguin. Your avatar can decorate your igloo with little penguins, earn coins while playing, and hang out with friends and strangers. If you're a Club Penguin fan, you can always have fun at Club Penguin after school, have a "day" at the pizzeria, or try to find the tip of the ice cream cone with lots of people you don't know. When I graduated from high school I fell in love with The Sims (especially The Sims 2 Deluxe) and spent time building new homes and avatars, building homes and communities. , as well as a virtual life with The Sims. The concept of Metaverse is no stranger to Gen Z or local gamers who have experienced the benefits of games, avatars, and the world.
so,If “Metaverse” has been around for years, what is special about this period?? I think marketing time, technology (blockchain, headphones), and pre-planning play an equal role here. I'll look at all three from my perspective, but first I'll take a look at some considerations on why the previous Metaverse initiation failed, starting with Second Life.
Founded in 2003, Second Life is a hot metaspace startup looking to make an impact. Generations of young people will never hear it. Although declared as important or significant as Facebook almost 20 years ago, the. Like modern metaverse startups / companies, you can walk around and customize your digital avatar in the virtual world of Second Life, attend events, buy and sell virtually, and much more. At the height of 2007, it had around 1 million members per month and saw a partnership between Adidas, Armani and Calvin Klein.
The main difference between the failure of Second Life and the success of Roblox is that Second Life is not a real game and failed to create a process to engage users. Second Life's Satisfaction with Advice from Users and Bloggers “Users often use it for community games such as movies, virtual reality games, shared sandbox houses, and virtual sex. The second average age of users is 32, so older users and user data is different from Roblox / Fortnite. The former Second Life executive also said, "[It doesn't work] for reasons that still hold true today. They're just the most underused older people. Environment." User-created content hasn't received as much attention as VCs today in the post-YouTube era, and Second Life's platform has created friction / builds. Compared to Roblox, it accounts for 24.5% of total sports revenue and is expected to spend $ 250 million in 2020 and $ 500 million in 2021.
You can also check out the broken promises of many VR startups that have raised millions over the past decade but are not yet ready for new users. VR started raising $ 900 million in 2016, but fell to $ 280 million in 2018 after many failures. In recent years, Oculus has become more popular. For example: Facebook changed its name to Meta and Oculus launched a number of free apps on the iOS App Store this Christmas.
Before the advent of Axie Infinity, many blockchain-based games failed (again ... they've been around since 2018, but were successful in 2021). This section will cover some of the games in detail and the special competitions associated with them. . explanation. Create friction on the platform with the amount of Ethereum natural gas. Axie solved this problem with a Ronin sidechain wallet. As investing in a startup has always been, there is the “risk of being affected” phenomenon.
So, we come back to this question. Why now? I think it's a mix of our strengths.
1.professional opportunities
2.Technology (blockchain, device)
Three.Ready for Generation Z.
Operation Time - COVID-19 / Pandemic
It is difficult to ignore the impact of metastasis and on the order of development of the metaverse. People of all ages should find it easier to live and work digitally at home, whether at work, ordering food, seeing a doctor or veterinarian in telemedicine, or spending time with friends and family. the family on Zoom or FaceTime. From a personal point of view, I didn't have any online friends until 2020-Twitter and my global online community, Gen Z VC, contributed to this growth. I've also never worked from home, attended virtual meetings, or used Zoom outside of my office (now I can tell I've attended weddings, baby showers, etc.).
Facebook changed its name to Meta
A quick glance at Google Trends data for the word "metaverse" last year reveals the truth and sees the impact when Facebook changed its name to meta in October. When the world's largest social network claims its product focus is very narrow and goes all in the metaverse ...people will be careful. No problem announcing a $ 10 billion investment in your own version of Metaverse.
Technology
Today, you can experience a variety of changes, including web-based metavers like Roblox, console metavers like Beast Cross on Nintendo Switch, and VR-based Oculus-based metavers like Meta's Horizon Worlds or VRCchat from iPhone to AR. Actually. - Based on a metaverse like Pokemon GO.
As an investment, I would say I have a lot more hope for the virtual world website and the metaverse. The reason is that most of them have minimal friction on large adoption. You can use Oculus with Nintendo Switch and Roblox for quick setup. Oculus has reportedly sold 10 million Quest 2 VR headsets in the past year (as of December 2021), making it the best performing VR headset in the world. But that's still amazing compared to the 97 million Nintendo Switch consoles sold (and the 35 million Beast Cross printers currently available to Switch users) ... roughly 50 million Roblox Active users per day. No additional equipment is required to play. Considering this figure, Roblox has more modern users (50 million) than the total population of Spain (47 million).
In other words, more technological development requires us to be able to work, live and play in the metaverse for a few days. As a guide, I have read and written about the Metaverse almost exclusively on my computer over the past couple of days. I wear about half of my light blue glasses and still have a headache and need a rest from looking at the screen. I think it will take years to work, live and play in the days of the Metaverse (especially VR).
Ready for Generation Z
While the above two reasons are widely mentioned as the two main drivers of Metaverse adoption, we believe that the planning for Gen Z Metaverse is for young people and Gen Z digital gamers to play a role. in the paving.
MAU and middle-aged users (usually Gen Z) are the meta-global platform for the new era.
I have spoken clearly about the success of Roblox and will continue to research research articles on fashion, music / concert collaborations and more. However, if you check out the biggest websites in the virtual world or the metaverse from rooted users (eg Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft) ... usually Gen Z. We were digitally living that metamworlds are not a new concept. Young people hold the income to develop these kinds of marketing opportunities, and Club Penguin or Webkinz are not. Gen Z focused on Outdoors and Market, a platform that allows us to create, design / build and make money through creativity. Earlier this year, a study found that people spend five times more money on blockchain games than on traditional games.
Jamie Burke describes this event beautifully in the context of Axie Infinity's recent success. , the player will spend more money in the game. “This is the main difference between having Webkinz in the digital world and having Axie in the digital world.
As Gen Z moved from Roblox to other Metaverse platforms, Metaverse like Sandbox, Decentraland, etc. Earn money.
Let us not forget the magnitude of these opportunities in the future. The enormous growth of the Metaverse cannot be ignored, and it is expected to have a market cap of $ 800 billion in 2024 ($ 478 billion in 2020).
Metaverse of first users and reference cases
kev zam zam
Faced with the diverse digital and physical worlds, the fashion industry seems to be doing its best to hold the global meta this year, with the crazy collaboration and support of Vans, Nike, Ralph Lauren and other names on many. multiple platforms. , What's this. Balenciaga, This has been proven by Gucci, Uniqlo, etc.
Why the skin gives the mark
High-end, high-volume retailers pay special attention to Metaverse, as one of the biggest moments of in-game monetization is the skin, custom add-ons that allow you to change the look of your avatar ( such as clothes, accessories, etc.). .). Four markets would be worth up to $ 40 billion a year, a level that cannot be ignored. Combine that $ 40 billion investment time with the new concept of “getting users to where they are” in gaming ecosystems like Roblox or Fortnite, and have a great time. True, true and meaningful. And in the physical world, all of this is possible without physical limitations of production. In theory, clothing products can be created without limiting gravity without having to worry about overspending or dropping or changing prices. Take, for example, the manufacturer of digital home fashion and how they create digital clothes and accessories. During Australian Fashion Week, The Manufacturer brought to life the Animator Jacket "made of liquid metal and reinforced with gravity-defying tentacles" that could not transform the body in the real world.
As a rule, the feasibility of the goal of achieving the outcome of the metaverse is final. For consumers, there is the potential to improve skin value over time / skin tone. Metaverse creates a real and compelling sales business that users of all ages can benefit from. My favorite example is Roblox's Gucci digital bag, which sold for over $ 4,000 (higher than the IRL version) after the Gucci Garden experience. I also encountered this when decorating my * cute * profile avatar by Roblox (pictured below). The "Heart Gaze" side, developed in partnership with Roblox x Zara Larsson, is in the minority and sees its prices rise in the mid-range market. Users who see the price when they buy the special "face" can sell it for 50 times the price and expect the price to keep going up because it is only available in the 17,000-piece limit.
Global Meta Market Share: 2021 Edition
Metaverse skins and composite products provide a valuable opportunity for both consumers and consumers. The figure below shows the different collaborations and collaborations that took place in web meta-universes such as Roblox, Minecraft, and Beast Cross in 2021.
In 2021, the main Meta Universe platform will partner with big names.
Many of them are developed by the Roblox team partners. / "top-down" not directly to the game developer, but to yourself. Plus, big names often work with agents or consultants to help make big partnerships. Forever 21 has partnered with Metaverse Creative Company Virtual Brand Group to launch Roblox's Product City experience, allowing users to build their own fashion store. These activities include short-term virtual / real-time collaboration (for example, the Gucci Gardens experience at Roblox only lasts two weeks) and long-term or end-to-end collaboration (for example, like the Vans skate park. World to Roblox). Conversely, when considering a sandbox implementation, a lens is always more likely to have a longer lifespan because it requires real estate / real estate to be available for real. Given their low frequency, this may increase over time. Over time, value will be added to the platform (as there are no restrictions on the release of new games or previous experiences by Roblox).
I think there is a great opportunity for 1.3 million Roblox developers (and another UGC indie developer on the Metaverse gaming platform) to bring first-hand experience and expertise. For example, when a company calls a game developer to correct a previous experience, there is a lot of legal, insurance, and decision-making work for a small group or a developer. This is the developer and the tools that support the next generation of designers ... Many designers will be gamers. Here are the first examples of famous brands collaborating with designers to make their vision a metaverse reality.
Vans World has teamed up with games studio Roblox Gang Stockholm to create a Vans skate park based on the real Vans website.
Gucci developed the product in collaboration with designers cSapphire and Rook Vanguard, who are the creators of the popular Roblox.
Stella McCartney has teamed up with community founder Samuel Jordan, known as "Builder Boy" on the virtual collection.
Tommy Hilfiger allows the creators of Roblox to play their part in creating the series. That said, @PolarcubArt got a Tommy Jeans backpack and @MiracleDropsRBX designed a special nylon shoulder bag and wheeled bag.
NASCAR has partnered with two development teams (Badimo) to create a 10-day event on the hit fighting game Jailbreak.
As we have seen with brands such as Off-White, Selfridges, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton in 2021, manufacturers can develop their own gaming experience if they prefer end-to-end craftsmanship and want to gain popularity. 'money for them.
Just because a brand has a strong metaverse effect does not mean that it cooperates with other brands. Balenciaga, for example, developed his own experience thanks to Epic's Unreal Engine Afterworld, began making Fortnite massive later this year after its fall 21 release. Ralph Lauren also released the Kia movie on the Metaverse of Zepeto, then all spring with Roblox skin. Much of this is because people of all ages have come together in different meta-universes, to ensure that collaborations enable different kinds of business interests for the consumer.
By 2022, more names are expected to join the metaverse, either by creating virtual landscapes and experiences via the sandbox, local knowledge from Roblox, making their own games, or possibly switching to the metaverse by releasing the NFT series. . .
music in the meta world
It became very popular during the COVID-19 period as virtual live music was available on platforms such as the Metaverse platform, Zoom or Moment House / Single Music. We explore our unique musicians / artists working in different meta-worlds and why each work is important for an artist to enjoy and connect with their fans.
I also think that musicians and artists will be drawn to worldviews mainly because they believe that a passion for the world of music is better than the world of fashion. Considering the number of Gen Zers and their feelings with the creators, and how big theaters like Ariana Grande and Lil Nas X are pulling fans into the transition, it's true that it creates some great opportunities for the platform. -form metaverse. as a starting point.
Travis Scott de Fortnite
Fortnite has always been one of the early winners of meta-development in the meta-world. The first meta-concert in my memory to receive media coverage was Travis Scott's "Astronomy" concert in Fortnite in April 2020. Travis Scott has been leading behavioral issues from the Astroworld series status (and the Fortnite skin has been withdrawn from the market), but his previous experience in the Metaverse is still worth documenting and providing a solid case study. The celebrity attracts a fan base in the virtual world. Note: I am not a fan of Travis Scott and I do not condone his behavior.
The best way to show the tolerance and potential of a virtual metaverse situation is directly compared to activating the metaverse. Here's a comparison of Scott's 2018-2019 North American tour to his 5-gig international tour at Fortnite Virtual Reality.
Arguably the most rewarding producer is time, and each Fortnite gig lasts ten minutes. Taking all of this into account, Fortnite's global setup from 5 takes less than an hour. Rumor has it that Scott made $ 20 million on Fortnite tours, which is only a third of his direct tours, but let's estimate how much he earns in an hour. An assumption that it takes two hours of a live gig would mean doing 110 hours of touring and earning $ 545,000 an hour. At Metaverse, that can actually make $ 24 million an hour. This means Travis Scott will theoretically earn 44 times more than a performance at the Metaverse.
Despite his net income, fans embrace that his owner is 34 times more than he can travel alone. Equally important is the Meta Universe for building an following, interacting with the best fans, and discovering new fans who, for various reasons, can't engage with people. In the midst of a global spread, as traveling and touring the world is more difficult than ever, Travis Scott was able to wow fans around the world without leaving home. And we did it our way so that the fans were in place, underwater and everything. A year later, as Ariana Grande's show was in full swing on Fortnite, an estimated 78 million users watched her performance (her revenue was around $ 20 million). .
Today, most artists make money from tours and shows. I don't think face-to-face touring is going to go away anytime soon, but the metaverse provided a great opportunity for the cast (key cast and indie cast on several occasions) to attract and benefit fans. through the use of.
Snoop Dogg hauv sandbox
Snoop Dogg's role as a producer and producer in Metaverse comes as no surprise, at least in the crypto community. Snoop Dogg has always been one of the early consumers of blockchain technology. As of September 2021, he owned around $ 17 million worth of Ethereum-based NFTs (including 9 cryptopunks).
Unlike the Travis Scott or Ariana Grande example above, Snoop has taken a permanent place in the Metaverse while creating “Snoopverse” on the Sandbox. It's very epic.
For performers, the surprise of this model is that it generates income through DTV. Snoop sells NFT tickets (for example, 1,000 Personal Group Crossings), 10,000 avatar skins, and 20,000 vehicles. vehicles, etc. to achieve this.
People also want to know if someone can visit Snoop like he's a partner and owner, paying up to $ 450,000 to become Snoop's neighbor on the Metaverse. There are 122 courts and 67 courts in the NFT package. a private ticket with Snoop. Everything you need to ask a question. Apparently, the selected group will even host their own Snoop party on their own Snoopverse lot.
Sandbox is a way to make more money than just skins, and I think the previous experience is still appealing to older people who are still able to spend more money. Unlike Fortnite or Roblox partnerships, these are slightly more expensive. I would like the technology used to open the metaverse to be used more and more, offering experiences like renting / sharing / bulk buying that help drive traffic to the average person and pay off rewards for fans. existing Snoop. The latter is difficult to pin down in its entirety when the market is not on the blockchain, but it can prove to be a promising avenue for rewarding longtime fans.
Lil Nas X vs. Zara Larsson on Roblox
Similar artist experience Roblox in Fortnite and Ed Sheeran in Pokemon GO in November 2021. What I'll be explaining in this example is the ability of main characters like Lil Nas X and Little Artist Capital like Zara Larsson.
Lil Nas X gained worldwide fame and new artists saw his song "Old Town Road" become the longest-running hit in American history, making him the voice and popularity of TikTok, with nearly 27 million hits. followers. is. Travis Scott immediately hit Fortnite, and Lil Nas X looked like Roblox a few months later, becoming the platform's first big gig. Lil Nas X garnered 33 million views over the two-day / four-share experience, and reportedly generated nearly $ 10 million in sales from Roblox. Lil Nas X and Roblox both did very well.
Even more important in this article is how Zara Larsson succeeds Roblox. It's also a hit with nearly 14 million monthly listeners on Spotify, but most have yet to confirm Swedish pop star Larson is a professional. In summary, Lil Nas X has 53 million monthly listeners, Justin Bieber 94 million, Ariana Grande 80 million, Taylor Swift 60 million, etc.
In May, Larsson worked with Roblox to promote the song "Poster Girls" on the Metaverse virtual dance floor. Fans can watch her performances, buy her avatar, behave (for example, wear an avatar next to Zara), and participate in virtual hunts. Her show has amassed 1.6 million users, but most importantly, has earned over $ 1 million in skins / merchandise alone. Even the best, the price of any product can be as low as a dollar. That said, this show is usually caused by overcrowding, rather than a handful of fans losing hundreds of thousands of dollars each.
In the midst of a global broadcast, artists like Larsson won't have to struggle to pay honest dues on streaming platforms to weather the storm, but will swap loyal fans and find new fans looking for concert merchandise. and digital. You can change. “It took time and millions of streams to get to seven figures on YouTube or Spotify,” he said in a BBC article.
With top performers and indie actors from the meta world, longtime actors have a great opportunity to match “100 True Fans”. For example, I became a huge fan of Ingrid Michaelson last year and saw him at concerts more than 6 times. He won't be playing in the stadium, but I guarantee his fans (like me) will see him play in the meta world.
It's important to remember that we've seen artists bring some great gigs to the Metaverse from the start, and we're happy to see these gigs expand beyond our team integration between Roblox and others. platforms. There are some issues to be addressed on stage platforms as well (for example, the avatar of Ava Max Funny fell into a lava pit and died during the show, which was recorded by fans on YouTube) and can be owned by the artist himself and his team. Hands, but I see the future of the intersection of meta edge and music.
This is where we bring the next million Metaverse users, and how musicians and artists open their doors to their biggest fans.
open and closed metaverse
Open the meta edge and lock ideas
Let's talk about the interaction, the ability to move around a virtual space with similar virtual objects (such as avatars and digital objects). The prospect of an open, collaborative metaverse has been touted by many NFTs or blockchain-enabled startups that have emerged in the field, and could impact avatars, transportation, and the digital world itself.
your avatar
Taking Axie Infinity and the cute NFT monsters from the Metaverse as examples, the developer said, "It's important that humans can use Axies in other games as well. NFTs need to be open, so this will come true."
Genies, a metaverse avatar company that works for celebrities like Justin Bieber, has a business model that is built on partnerships. They hope to create global celebrity avatars (and end users, now closed beta) that can be used on the open metaverse. Simplify Web3 for artists to perform across disciplines and create collaborations (avatars, wearables, etc.) for visual effects. Genies joined Warner Music Group earlier this year to join Universal Music Group in December. This means that we can see more artists entering the fray, starting with the avatars in 2022. Geniuses (Lerer Hippeau portco) have also made the equipment more accessible to people using goods. We're excited to be on the waitlist and join Discord along with over 18,000 other Genies fans.
circulation
This concept applies not only to people and avatars, but also to travel and transportation. Seed-based Jadu has raised $ 7 million to develop NFT jetpacks and hoverboards that can be integrated with other avatars (including Meebits from Larva Labs). In Jadu's AR app called Mirrorverse.
virtual reality
Perhaps most important is the ability to transport external NFTs and aggregators themselves to physical and global locations such as Sandbox, Decentraland, and Cryptovoxels. If you buy Bored Ape for $ 2.7 million, you can buy it for the impact, access to a great community, and the ability to recoup your investment. But I think you can not only show your monkey in virtual art galleries like Spatial, but you can also travel the digital world with Ape and make it an integral part of your sphere in the Metaverse. The Boring Ape Yacht Club purchased land in the sandbox earlier this year (plans to distribute land to community members) and expects this to bear fruit by 2022, according to other activities NFT strong communities. Sandbox has 31 boring monkeys (valued at around $ 9 million), so invest heavily so that each "running, jumping, chatting and playing 2D graphical NFT" turns them into playable 3D animated avatars and interacts with each other. A sympathetic avatar of the ecosystem. "
Sandbox has Ape # 3749 "Captain" and hopes to turn it into 3D in the meta-universe.
The meta of the closed world and the vision of the "big tech" company.
High-tech companies like Meta are developing “walled gardens” like Horizon World, which is a significant difference from companies like Sandbox. Decentralized metavers like Sandbox or Decentraland want everyone to be able to design, activate, and get their design metaverse. However, the structure of the Metaverse metaverse may be similar to Facebook's presence on the Web2, where parent companies have and benefit from user data and consumer products only from active employees. The Winklevoss Twins have raised $ 400 million to create an alternate distribution platform for Zuckerberg's Meta, and even the wider crypto community remains skeptical of the impact this will have on the future of the Metaverse.
Companies like Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite are also real estate giants. For example, if you purchase Roblox's Zara Larsson skin on their Girl Tour ad, you can't bring their avatar or that skin outside of the Roblox ecosystem. That might change in the future, but for now the company is in the hands of its shareholders and creating value in a closed ecosystem.
Meta-world companies
I've described various consumer apps in Metaverse, but what about marketing? The company has entered the meta-world and what does it look like?
Improve the virtual base
The best representation of American companies (or circle of organizations) in the Metaverse is to bring rural workers together by establishing a base of virtual offices. As the world shifts to distant work due to COVID-19, workers are turning to staggered hours and mixed workplaces. For large businesses like Facebook, Google, and other multi-million dollar businesses, create fun office spaces with free breakfasts, ping pong tables, nap booths, and more. What does this mean for the future of distance education? Can companies build their culture so far? The answer seems to be the meta world.
Many companies are building their Metaverse headquarters by purchasing land from Decentraland, Sandbox, and Cryptovoxel, and are growing rapidly. On Christmas Eve, Business Insider explained how sandbox land sales accounted for a quarter of last week's NFT total sales of $ 300 million. However, sales campaigns in Decentraland are more expensive. Let's call it the "Beverly Hills" in the Metaverse. The most expensive of all of last week's top 10 sales at $ 758,250 was the digital lot at Decentraland. So what does this virtual office look like?
In Neustreet's case, it's the three-story building on a private island in Cryptovoxels that the founders bought for $ 13,000 and created themselves. All supplies for events such as co-working spaces, NFT art galleries, and office weekends are available in December. .
Designer Metamask ConsenSys hired a real estate company to build its headquarters in Decentraland, featuring a floating pool, amphitheater and more in the form of a logo. They partied in September to celebrate MetaMask reaching 10 million monthly users, and they plan to host more events in the future.
Hong Kong-based venture capital firm PWC bought land from Sandbox as an opportunity to "engage with consumers and communities." A good example of how a local business, not Web3, accesses Metaverse.
Plug and play enterprise software
Just because you have a metaverse operation doesn't mean you need to create a virtual base. Startups like Gathering, Teamflow, Virbela and SoWork are integrating videoconferencing with global standards to more closely simulate the work environment.
Microsoft is always in competition to win the hearts of companies in the meta world. It means a lot. As of July 2021, Microsoft Teams had 250 million monthly users. It's more MAU than the consumer-centric metaspatial platform we've talked about so far (e.g. Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft, etc.). Microsoft is developing Mesh, an integrative virtual assembly that can be used on headphones, computers, and phones. Imagine meeting your avatar in Mesh instead of dying in a 4 hour Zoom meeting. The avatar also retains its voice and portrait. camera).
The role of NFTs in the meta world
In this white paper, we talked about NFTs, but not really about NFTs. Axies is NFT, Land of Sandbox is NFT, Jadu hoverboard is NFT, Boring Ape is NFT, for example non-fungible tokens (NFT) can be a great way for modern consumers to access metaworld portals.
Rapid increase in NFTs
If you look at the market as a whole, you can see a 7x increase in sales of NFT in just 3 months, as shown in the figure below. You can look to a fast growing NFT platform like OpenSea. The market had more than $ 10 billion worth of packaging from the start of 2021 to November and has quadrupled in just three quarters. Additionally, OpenSea established itself as a market leader, accounting for 97% of the NFT packaging industry during the quarter.
So why are people still buying NFTs?
Well, that's virtual art. People want to write them like traditional art and put them accordingly. Like any other investment, it pays off (and risky), and it can only be part of the development of a great show. In addition to the potential benefits of the Metaverse and other community resources, people are buying it for the art / investment. You can see NFTs in many places, including:
In the digital world we often see them as profiles of people on Twitter, or placed in virtual museums / theaters (like Spatial, Lerer Hippeau portco) or virtual worlds (eg Decentraland).
The NFTs you have in the real world can represent IRLs in several ways. It can be the house-to-house screen showing the same NFTs (Crypto Punks, Meebits, Doodles, Bored Apes - all with different meanings), as the company invested in Lerer Hippeau's Like Danvas in December 2021. It can be a real place where you can meet your friends just like Bright Moments. The NFT physical facility (including DAO) is located in Venice Beach, California. Personally if I had one I would like to put a nice NFT art gallery in my apartment (but the current price is 7 ETH / $ 26,000 and the lady doesn't have any money like that ¯ \ (ツ) / c).
NFT and celebrities: enjoy the crowds
The crypto community isn't alone in driving adoption. Celebrities work on NFTs and have big fans.
Paris Hilton talks about NFT on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show and has her own series.
Reese Witherspoon purchased her first NFT in October 2021 and has expressed interest in helping many female artists promote their collection.
Tom Brady is launching his own NFT Autograph design / community platform. This includes not only your own NFTs, but also celebrities like Naomi Osaka, The Weeknd, Derek Jeter, Tony Hawk, and more.
Martha Stewart has a long term NFT strategic plan, she will be announcing the seasons and holidays each year, and in 2021, she will be announcing the "Sculpture Series" for Halloween!
Despite these multi-million dollar debts and the crazy energy that we have experienced over the past year, since June 2021, we are still too early to use much of the NFTs. You can buy or sell NFTs. My family and I went on vacation for Christmas and saw the word NFT affected, so they banned me from using the word NFT (oh, okay). Trying to explain what can and cannot be changed can sometimes seem like a dead business. However, NFTs are still very important in bringing crowds into the meta world, and this is most effective when combined with the results or experiences most commonly used in culture and real life. Below I will describe two of my favorite examples. Each example illustrates the importance of NFTs in achieving a large-scale migration to the metaverse.
Adidas: in the metaverse
In December, adidas entered the meta-world by showcasing 30,000 NFT collections by partnering with leading companies such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club and Pixel Vault NFT. . The needle sold out in seconds, and one afternoon it announced a sale of $ 23.5 million.
Why should we care?
Well, let's look at the symbols of engagement first. When we think of the iconic Adidas collaboration, we think of the 2016 collaboration with Kanye / Yeezy and a few years later with the Beyonce / Ivy Park partnership in 2019. It's Sex and the show designed in collaboration with artists renowned. The partnership / partnership that has evolved rapidly in 2021 and Adidas is exaggerating is the NFT community with Boring Ape. It's a big problem. To close the gap with the metaverse is a smart move for Adidas as it's important to connect with the community and make changes that are as real as possible. If you want to know more, we covered these partnerships and the adidas culture on Adidas on Bloomberg TV's Metaverse in December.
It also presents an opportunity for Adidas fans who are passionate about new products and past experiences, not a clear understanding or metaverse. At least 9,620 NFTs have been reserved for sale. This means that in theory anyone can buy "In the Metaverse" NFTs, whether or not they are crypto enthusiasts. You can get into specialist organizations and adidas promises access to physical and digital products and experience. It could be a limited edition hoodie and beanie to wear to the gym, or it could be a ticket to an Adidas event in Metaverse where the NFT is a ticket. Around December, Nike also acquired a company called RTFKT Studios to develop NFT and virtual sneakers. This is another attempt by a large clothing company to bridge the gap between the digital world and the physical world.
The launch of the NFT series will continue to provide an opportunity to bring communities into the meta global world in a way that is committed to the product, the community and the experience.
Dolce & Gabbana
Adidas took the more popular route and launched a NFT 30,000 bill-like collection. Dolce & Gabbana made a slight difference with the release of “Collezione Genesi,” a special collection of nine NFTs, in October 2021, grossing $ 6 million and trending NFT records. Five of them are physically integrated with digital NFTs and four others are dedicated to digital NFTs. All equivalent purchases are subject to future conditions.
One day, I dreamed of attending the MET Gala (not all of them). What if Anna Wintour decides to release the Dolce & Gabbana style series with all the NFT digital equivalents on the MET Gala ticket? Or is there an opportunity to get involved with the communities that helped decide on this year's theme? No matter what the prize looks like, the money will continue to be used to support the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but this time the starting price will stay the same after one day.
Businesses can go down the Adidas or Dolce & Gabbana route and still be successful. Most importantly, do something that works for your goals and the design community, don't try to fit into the model that needs to work in the meta world.
Closing questions: ideas, questions and time
Over the past few days, I've spent time researching, reading, and writing about the metaverse, lowering my head to the landscape itself and its future.
First of all, I'm excited about Metaverse and believe 2022 will be a happy time for tech, consumers, and culture. We are excited to invest in the next generation of designers and businesses creating a virtual future. Here's what I'm looking forward to from other places of interest:
Infrastructure to support the development of digital NFTs in collaboration with organizations:As you can see in the Dolce Dolce and Gabbana as an instance, pair of numbers and employees can create a combination of magic (useful). They create and prediction nine work with Unoxd in the well-prepared digital business. But if you want to wear pokemon card / collection or you like Rolex to NFT? Standing designed such 4k has been created for intense products, but you can see the same problem with other focus companies. Or you can use meta buffy that you want to decorate your room and want to take your favorite friends with your favorite pictures. In the sand, can you use voxedit to create a NFT Software for the Sandbox store, but you want to see you similarly, and the product is better to use or keep. And I hope it is very good for the customer. Usually, do the NFT and digital draw is hard. Nine-year-old cryptographic languages are made a beautiful picture. The room is all in the area, and I want to find the ways to show it for meta buffy that can sell the image or nft.
The intersection of collaboration, rewards and fairness - especially for brands and manufacturers:2021, many types of stuff jump into a lot of ways. Some people think that more people focus on the short conditions and experience will decide more in everyday world. Ideas to facilitate digital community needs. Maybe this way, you can pay for customers or disables it in this way. This method you can do for this purpose. I think the purpose of / IP is hard to manage this, and a plug and play problem. According to many disciples, community, changan and survivors can see the newest year.) - I want to see the new year to help the content Similarly and the grass, use large scale. A few days ago I announced the importance of Paris Hilloox and the importance of the leading rolnian ecosystem. Or exterior (like Paris ... it's hot). Loyal to attachment and performance.
Unknown ecosystem tools and game developer support:As we learn more about Roblox integration and collaboration with developers / developers, they tend to focus on one ecosystem. However, every developer, regardless of platform, should consider measuring their performance through collaboration, third-party services, and business models. Even IRL monetization can be effectively combined with virtual representation of the game. The Metaverse design industry will not be successful, and we hope to see more support from manufacturers to support this new venture.
New blockchain-based games and tools support open metaverse and interoperability:I believe in the open metaverse. I think there will be more games with achievements and communities like Axie Infinity, and more startups like Jadu combining avatars and NFTs for new games or worlds. I want to be able to easily withdraw from the world without worrying about where I'm going. Dematerialization is evolving in the fashion world, and in-store products can also appear in VRChat, Decentraland, Cryptovoxels and Somnium Space. I also think access played an important role here. Technology that helps attract more customers and supports this transition at lower cost through leasing, affiliate ownership, etc. For the average consumer new to the cryptocurrency / gaming world, spending hundreds of Axies can be more of a burden than trying Roblox for free.
Moderation in the meta world:With these new discoveries come challenges as you explore the new world. What makes Metaverse real people via executive staff or AI-designed avatars can generate a few questions or queries. Online disinhibition effect explains why people are deaf after masks, screens or anonymity when it comes to most bad behavior online, as seen in TikTok comments on the web or in real online forums. Of course, the villain will destroy the others. It is important that platforms and startups use technology and training to help reduce these incidents.
Ability to calculate:In the case of VR, the headset and the world can be changed to high capacity, but it's still too early. Meta's Horizon Worlds can only hold 20 players, and a traditional Metaverse game like Fortnite can hold up to 100-128 players at a time (this does not include VR). Intel says the Metaverse will need a 1,000-fold increase in the number of powers to visualize the true Metaverse. It will be interesting to see new initiatives related to these areas with the full potential and overall benefits of meta-space.
Ultimately that means a big world, a meta-world. As consumers, this widens our reach. New revenue streams, revenue streams, digital agents are becoming what we want to be and are available without limits on all new digital / social media. Traveling and discovering new things is difficult because of COVID. VR and meta edge have changed that. In the past two years, I have known more people online than I know. The meta world offers great meaning to artists, musicians, governments, businesses, and startups. If there are customers, the rest will come. 2022 will be an important year for the Metaverse, and I'm very happy to be able to live and experience with you.
