Venezuela airport lends bitcoins
One of Venezuela's main international airports is preparing to accept bitcoin as a form of payment.
Simon Bolivar International Airport has announced plans to use BTC, DASH, and Venezuela oil-related cryptocurrency tokens for airport services.
Ready to introduce cryptocurrency as a payment method
In the past, the local Venezuelan news agency El Siglo has reported that Venezuela's largest international airport is ready to use cryptocurrency as a method of payment.
Venezuela's international airport Simon Bolivar International Airport, also known as "Maiquetia", has announced that it will use cryptocurrency as a method of payment. This major airport is located 12 miles from Caracas, Venezuela.
Freddy Borges, director of Maiquetia, says Venezuelans must change too. It was also announced that the large airport will accept more digital benefits as a method of payment for booking flights and various services.
Borges also said authorities in Maiquetia will soon announce a new payment method in cooperation with the country's national crypto heritage regulator and regulator.
Adopting digital payment at the airport will inspire Maiquetia to commit to making the world a better place. He noted that this would also increase the use of cryptocurrencies nationally and internationally.
The official also added that foreign tourists will use encrypted payment methods, including Russians.
Venezuelan central bank digital currency
Currently, Venezuela is experimenting with a new type of cryptocurrency linked to its own currency, the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
The country also announced CBDC on October 1 as the Venezuelan Digital Bolivar. However, Venezuelan bank investors have said that the value of CBDCs will never be higher or lower than that of domestic tokens and can only be used as a digital means of accessing currency.
Since October 1, CBDCs have been created and one of the Venezuelan bolivars has the same value in digital form. Foils from 5 bolivars to 100 bolivars also have their own equivalent.
Additionally, the Petro token was distributed as one of the national digital currencies in February 2018. Unlike the CBDC currency, which is sponsored by the Venezuelan national currency, Petro was sponsored by foreign oil.
Companies that accept bitcoin as a payment method
In August 2021, Venezuela Airlines Airport Turpial Airlines received a payment based on BTC. At the same time, Caracas Airlines, the world's largest airline, is offering discounts to students paying Bitcoin.
Additionally, capitalizing on the national popularity of cryptocurrency, the food industry is not slowly accepting Bitcoin. Pizza Hut, for example, started accepting Ethereum and Bitcoin payments in November of last year.
Burger King also received Dash and Bitcoin as payment gateways at 40 restaurants across the country in January 2021.
