According to data released by Wisdom Bird, a provider of technology-based SAAS technology, around 7,800 companies in 50 countries and regions are involved in blockchain-related patent applications, and the total number of patent applications is about 55,000. Of these, the number of blockchain-related patent applications in China is about 33,000, or about 63%, the first place, followed by the United States and Korea.

For Chinese companies, companies such as Ant, Ping An, and Tencent are at the forefront of blockchain patents with nearly 7,000, 4,000, and 2,000 channels. From the perspective of Chinese companies referring to blockchain patents, they only focus on other technological areas such as smart contracts, intellectual property and information technology.

According to the expert knowledge and analysis data, it can be seen that the main Chinese blockchain patents also paid a lot of attention to the international process, and the quality of the patents is not inferior to that of Europe and the United States.

In terms of time, since the first blockchain technology was planned in 2008, the basic blockchain technology research and application technology production research and development has been completed rapidly for 13 years. According to new data from Wisdombuds, global blockchain-related patent applications are significant after 2015, especially after 2018, indicating growth momentum. In comparison, the number of blockchain patent applications in 2018 more than quadrupled compared to 2017.

Wisdom Buds consultants believe that from a global perspective, patent applications for blockchain technology have increased in recent years, but now estimate that only 20% of certificates are valid.
