The number of blockchain patent applications worldwide is around 55,000, with China accounting for around 60%.

On November 9, the Smart Bud Innovation Research Center and the Sci-tech Innovation Board Daily announced the “Global Blockchain and Blockchain in China Patent and Technology Innovation Report 2021” (here- hereinafter referred to as "Report"). According to the data, it provides insight into the global and Chinese blockchain industry distribution, innovation trends, blockchain financial development, and the state of the Chinese market.

The “Show” data shows that global blockchain technology has entered the 3.0 era. As of October 31, 2021, the total number of blockchain patent applications worldwide was around 55,000. Currently, the country with the highest number of patent applications in this area is China. Up to 33,000, or 63.2%. In terms of technology division, the level of blockchain technology extension is also the middle class of products with the largest patent disposition, accounting for 62%, in particular the growing explosion of technology distribution patents.

The application of patents for blockchain technology in the financial sector is more profitable than in other sectors. The number of global blockchain financial applications has exceeded 2,775, and the number of applications in China has exceeded 1,750, ranking. Currently, around 82.5% of Chinese blockchain financial patents are being considered for new patent applications, so China's blockchain financial industry is still active.

The report shows that if China's blockchain patent filings are the first in the world, it must also increase the share of quality patents. In terms of the number of patent citations, the number of Chinese blockchain patent citations is concentrated in 1-5, accounting for 78.4%, and the number of citations is 11 or more, accounting for 10.5.

In addition, in blockchain financial patent zoning in China, Guangdong ranked first with 386 related patent applications, followed by Beijing with 333 cases, and Zhejiang province with a total of 197 patents and the associated financial blockchain. Shanghai and Jiangsu also placed fifth at 144 and 140, respectively.
