Boeing's blockchain to promote TrustFlight aircraft maintenance project
Aviation data software company TrustFlight today announced its partnership with Boeing, RaceRocks of Canada and the University of British Columbia (UBC) to develop a new digital aircraft. UBC will provide blockchain expertise for the project.
With financial support and support from the Canadian Digital Technology Supercluster, the Digital Aircraft Recording System (DARS) will be developed in Canada.
Currently, there are many blockchain solutions in this area. This project is designed to address two key business issues. The first is to ensure that aviation equipment is not counterfeit, and the second is to ensure the legitimacy of equipment maintenance and repair in a well-run industry.
Karl Steeves, CEO of TrustFlight, said: “Most of the technologies for managing and recording aircraft maintenance are scripted or require the use of specialized software,” said Karl Steeves, CEO of TrustFlight. increase production and aircraft maintenance efficiency by 25%, saving the industry $ 3.5 billion per year. "
TrustFlight has extensive experience with software in the aviation industry, particularly in digital workflows.
“As (Boeing) continues to seek leading solutions, the new DARS development will help aircraft and crews increase performance while reducing costs,” said Charles Sullivan, senior president of operations, Boeing Canada.
Currently, many industry organizations have announced aircraft repair plans that rely on blockchain technology, but it remains to be seen whether DARS will join similar networks.
Already in 2019, aerospace systems services company Honeywell (Honeywell) launched the GoDirect Trade resale platform, enabled data digitization and used blockchain technology to verify the authenticity of the site. Initially, the platform contained over $ 1 billion in Boeing aircraft equipment.
GE Aviation has developed blockchain solutions dedicated to aircraft OEMs, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) networks, airlines and leasing companies.
In early 2020, the aviation industry organization SITA announced the formation of an alliance, the MRO Blockchain Alliance, to track, track and record aircraft locations.
RaceRocks, a TrustFlight partner that has partnered with Canadian Defense, has also launched some aircraft protection.
